My work stems from the intersection of furniture restoration, fashion design, and interior decoration.
I define myself as an experimental artist who investigates the memory of images, moving between classical figuration and figurative abstraction with touches of street art.
I don't understand the canvas as a mere image, but as a physical surface, an object-matter. Each work is a stage for transformation where acrylic, plaster or similar materials, and volumetric reliefs engage in intense dialogue.
My work begins with the contemporary reactivation of historical images and surface wear, using my restoration skills as a metaphor: fragmentation, repair, and new textures that imbue figures from our cultural past with a contemporary identity, ultimately leading to the realm of pure imagination.

Figures of courtesans, still lifes, fruit, and material abstraction are not separate paths, but rather converge.
I treat classical figures and motifs as forms, updated through color and texture, using a wide variety of palette knives, sponges, added materials, and spray paint depending on the subject being depicted, creating unique and distinct works.

Matter and Abstraction
Through blocks of color, geometric compositions, plaster, pigments, and thick reliefs, I explore the dialogue between chaos and order, sometimes also intertwined in water.
Texture takes center stage, inviting the viewer to approach and experience the tension of the surface.

My work is gradually converging into a more spiritual world, where planets and figures related to consciousness and the afterlife fit in.

Figuration-Roots
Influenced by my many trips to various exotic countries, I have created an independent series of imaginary, innovative and striking exotic faces with connotations of Greco-Roman warriors. The lips, and the visual impact, a characteristic of my works, are clearly reflected in this series of unreal, exotic faces.

About me
Paola Vignola, an Italian-born, hyperactive, and multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona.
With a background that combines the structure of Milan with the creative freedom of Barcelona, my artistic practice is characterized by a bold use of color and a clear intention: to transform spaces through visual energy.
My work begins with the contemporary reactivation of historical images and surface wear, using my restoration skills as a metaphor: fragmentation, repair, and new textures that imbue figures from our cultural past with a contemporary identity, ultimately leading to pure imagination.
For years I dedicated myself to fashion design and furniture restoration, transforming pieces, in many cases, into small works of art. Building on this experience, I also began creating and renovating vintage picture frames, fully integrating them into the visual language of my paintings.
Through my social media, especially on Instagram @paolavignolaartista and @restauraconpaola, I share the transformation and creation processes of my pieces, showcasing the dialogue between art, restoration, and contemporary design.
My works are designed to renovate interiors, such as homes, offices, shops, and creative spaces.
